One day after very publicly promising the community and Chief Inspector Don Masoero of DCRA that they would not conduct construction at 605 P ST NW after 7pm when it is prohibited, we caught the construction crew working and banging loudly after 8pm. It sucks to have to play the call-and-report game with your neighbors, but what else to do when a developer makes a public show of neighbors being too petulant after contractors and other individuals close to the construction privately admit they expect it to be a poorly-managed disaster. Poor, poor quality cell-phone photo is below. Most of the work was in the basement and hard to capture. However, police officers showed up and filed a report (#072-552).

We put this next set of photos up to show DCRA and city officials that in fact there was more than simple alteration & repair going on at the building. These photos show the new construction going on behind the existing front facade of 605 P ST NW. Note the total removal of the rear exterior wall of the building, the roof (it had caved in), and each of the old floors. The cement basement floor is brand new as is the cement block along the sides and rear of the buliding (you can catch a glimpse of it in the last photo). Finally, the rear stairwell in the last photo is missing from all building and grading plans submitted to the city.

More photos are available on the CCCA blog here.
